Our Current Work
We’re taking action where voter power is most at risk.
Utah has a proud tradition of civic engagement. But recent efforts to weaken the initiative process, gerrymander political maps, and restrict access to the ballot are putting that tradition in jeopardy. At Better Boundaries, we’re focused on protecting the tools voters need to shape their government—and we’re acting now.

Supporting the Legal Challenge to Gerrymandered Maps
After the legislature repealed core parts of Proposition 4 and adopted maps in a rushed, closed-door process, Utahns took their case to the courts. We’re proud to support that legal challenge and the principle that voters—not politicians—should shape our political boundaries.
This case is still moving through the courts and remains one of the most important fights for fair representation in the state.

Fighting S.J.R. 2 to Protect
the Initiative Process
S.J.R. 2 is a proposed constitutional amendment that would limit Utahns’ ability to propose and pass laws through citizen initiatives. If it moves forward, it could add new barriers and give the legislature more power to override the will of voters.
We’re working to stop S.J.R. 2 by tracking the legislation, educating the public, and building a broad coalition of Utahns committed to protecting direct democracy.
