Better Boundaries Statement on Gerrymandering Case

BETTER BOUNDARIES STATEMENT ON GERRYMANDERING CASE

“Utah Supreme Court to resolve what majority of Utahns approved in 2018”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                 January 9, 2023

SALT LAKE CITY – Better Boundaries Executive Director Katie Wright issued the following statement on the Utah Supreme Court granting appeals for both plaintiffs and defendants in gerrymandering case:

“For months and at considerable taxpayer expense, the Utah Legislature continues to pursue legal maneuvering in order to wield power. With the Utah Supreme Court now agreeing to hear arguments, Better Boundaries is committed to supporting the plaintiffs as they demonstrate how the Utah Constitution protects against partisan gerrymandering and gives citizens the right to reform their government.

“We are committed to the majority of Utah voters who demanded gerrymandering reform in 2018 and will continue to fight for transparency and accountability from our elected officials. We look forward to the day when Utah voters can finally pick their own politicians, not the other way around.”
