Better Boundaries: Moore vs. Harper
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 27, 2023
SALT LAKE CITY – Better Boundaries Executive Director Katie Wright issued the following statement in response to today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision in Moore v. Harper:
“The U.S. Supreme Court’s rejection of the fringe theory that state legislatures have unchecked power over federal elections is a win for representative democracy.
While we wait for next month’s landmark hearing by the Utah Supreme Court in League of Women Voters Utah, Mormon Women for Ethical Government, et al. vs. The Utah State Legislature, et al., we applaud today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision as a crucial step towards reaffirming accountability and checks and balances in our government.
We implore all Utahns who believe our electoral process should be carried out with integrity and fairness to pay close attention to the proceedings. The outcome will have significant implications and to the most important voices in our state, the people’s.”
