Sheryl is a Utah educator, former legislator, and civic leader with decades of experience in public education and state government. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Utah. Before entering state politics, Sheryl worked as a teacher and later served on the Davis Board of Education, becoming one of the first women elected to the board, and she served six years as board president. She also worked as the public relations director for Davis Technical College and later as foundation director for the Davis School District.
Sheryl served in the Utah House of Representatives for 16 years, where she became known for her bipartisan leadership and work on education, ethics reform, healthcare, and economic development. She later ran for lieutenant governor on Utah’s first major bipartisan gubernatorial ticket. Beyond elected office, Sheryl has served in leadership roles with organizations including the Richards Institute for Ethics at Weber State University, KUED/PBS Utah, was a founding member of Utah Women Run and several other public policy and education nonprofits.
