Yándary Chatwin is a communications leader, civic advocate, and proud mom who has spent her career opening doors for people who are too often left out of the rooms where decisions get made. She serves as a board member for Better Boundaries and brings firsthand experience to this work: she previously served as Vice Chair of the Salt Lake County Redistricting Commission, where she helped develop equitable redistricting plans using 2020 census data.
Born in El Salvador and raised in Riverdale, Utah, Yándary knows firsthand what it means to be part of a community that is often underrepresented in the spaces where consequential decisions get made. A bilingual (English/Spanish) communicator with more than a decade of experience in public affairs and government relations, she currently serves as Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations for the Salt Lake City School District. She holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah and a Master’s in Political Management from The George Washington University.
